This Kids Nonverbal Communication AAC Hoodie was created to give nonverbal, minimally speaking, and differently communicating children a practical way to express what they need right in the moment. Instead of being simply another autism-themed hoodie, the front functions as a wearable communication board that a child can use by pointing to the appropriate word or symbol.

A Communication Tool They Can Wear
The idea behind this hoodie is simple: make communication available without requiring a child to find another tool first.
AAC devices, communication books, and separate boards can be incredibly valuable, but there may be moments when one isn't immediately within reach. With the communication board printed directly on the hoodie, the child has another option available wherever they're wearing it.
They can simply look down, find what they want to communicate, and point to it.
Why Parts of the Design Are Upside Down
There’s an important functional detail to this design that may look unusual at first.
Because the person wearing the hoodie looks down at the communication board, they see it from the opposite orientation of someone standing in front of them. Portions of the words and symbols are therefore intentionally oriented for the wearer.
So, yes — some elements are supposed to look upside down when you're viewing the hoodie straight-on. That isn't a printing error. It's part of the design.
The goal was to make the communication board easier for the person wearing and using it, not simply make it look like a traditional graphic from the outside.
More Than Basic Needs
Communication isn't limited to asking for food, water, or the bathroom. That's why this board includes choices intended to help a child communicate personal boundaries, sensory distress, discomfort, and safety needs as well.
A child can point to DON’T TOUCH or SPACE when they need someone to back away. TOO LOUD, TOO BRIGHT, and OVERLOADED can help communicate sensory overwhelm. A BREAK or LEAVE can express the need to get out of an environment, while HELP and I’M HURT provide important options when something is wrong.
The inclusion of YES, NO, and I DON’T KNOW also gives the wearer a quick way to respond when someone asks them a question.
